Peter Jackson’s biography

 

Peter Jackson (born 18 April 1861 – died 17 February 1901) was a British-born Australian boxer who was considered one of the greatest heavyweights of his era. He was born in London, England, but emigrated to Australia with his family when he was a child. He began his professional boxing career in 1883 and quickly established himself as a top contender in the heavyweight division. He fought in over 200 professional bouts, winning the majority of them by knockout. He fought some of the biggest names in the sport of his time, including John L. Sullivan, Jim Corbett, and Bob Fitzsimmons. He was known for his powerful punches and aggressive fighting style. Despite his success in the ring, Jackson had a difficult personal life and struggled with alcoholism. He died at the age of 39, in Sydney, Australia. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1991.
